Derek turned over to face the wall staring at the over happy frog, who seemed to be even more happy then he had before. “If that was even possible;” Derek thought to himself. Taking off his pillow case Derek hung it over the picture covering the annoying frog and its happy gaze. “There!” He thought to himself quite content now that the picture was well hidden from his view. It was bad enough he was having a hard time sleeping let alone sleeping with that sugar junkie staring at him. Derek turned his back to the wall and faced outward watching the clock hands move into another hour. Four o clock was the last tick Derek remembered seeing before his mind shut off completely out of exhaustion. His rhythmic snoring soon joined the others in the room leaving the only alert presence staring at Derek from a corner. Its eye’s glowed an dim red from the low light that filtered through the room. Its breath was fetid, smelling of a rotting carcass in the sun. No one was aware of its presence. That is was it wanted anyway. It was here to observe and determine its next move. It deftly moved across the floor making only the slightest sound as its talons clicked on the tile. Reaching Derek’s bed it slowly lifted up his sleeve on his right shoulder. The creature grinned with a devious smile, its long sharp teeth that glistened off the light. Conner groaned in the distance, standing up out of his bed startling the little beast. Quickly but silently it scurried back to the open vent which it had made an entrance through earlier.
